Synthesis of oxindoles via visible light photoredox catalysis.
2-Electron-withdrawing-group-substituted 2-bromoanilides can be converted to the corresponding 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles with high efficiency under visible light irradiation by using fac-Ir(ppy)(3) as the photoredox catalyst. This protocol is suitable for the synthesis of oxindoles with chloro and bromo atoms attached to the phenyl ring.
متن کاملConversion of CO2 via Visible Light Promoted Homogeneous Redox Catalysis
This review gives an overview on the principles of light-promoted homogeneous redox catalysis in terms of applications in CO2 conversion. Various chromophores and the advantages of different structures and metal centers as well as optimization strategies are discussed. All aspects of the reduction catalyst site are restricted to CO2 conversion. An important focus of this review is the question ...
متن کاملPhotoredox catalysis with visible light.
The increasing need for more efficient synthetic methods and sustainable processes can be seen as a major driving force for new inventions; it also stimulates the creative rethinking of known concepts, which, in turn, will lead to the development of innovative chemistry. For example, starting from the challenge to mimic and understand enzymatic transformations, organocatalysis has now become an...
متن کاملDirect synthesis of macrodiolides via hafnium(IV) catalysis.
Efficient direct synthesis of macrodiolides via catalysis using Hf(OTf)4 is possible in high yields, forming water as the sole by-product. The first protocol for the direct synthesis of macrodiolides from equimolar mixtures of diols and dicarboxylic acids was developed (58-96%). In addition, modification of the reaction concentration allows for the synthesis of head-to-tail macrodiolides from t...
متن کاملVisible-light photoredox catalysis in flow.
Photoredox catalysts have recently been utilized as powerful tools for synthetic chemists to exploit the energy gained by the absorption of low-energy light within the visible spectrum to initiate a variety of organic transformations. The development of methods based on the single electron transfer properties of photoredox catalysts, particularly in the last several years, has represented a par...
